Unhappy UWSC - Where to start?

Hi,
I've never done UW before, but I'm looking for a group I join to complete it, but I don't understand them. What is 50+, 100+? Which stones do I have to buy? When I get a group, the leader wants something from me, but when I tell them that I'm a 1st timer, I'll get kicked.
I've looked up UW and UWSC on wiki and PvXwiki, but the're nothing to explain this. When I ask players, they will kick me and explain nothing. And getting practise group is hard, especially when I meet someone like me without this knowledge.

Could someone help me? Tell me where and how to start?
Thank you

The PvX pages has the builds as well as videos on UWSC.
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_UW_Terraway
When people say 50+ they mean 50 Summoning Stones that you get at the end of each UWSC run from the UW chest.
In my opinion, start off with practice groups as a E/Mo, Necro, or Rit, as they seem to be the easier roles to play.

The stones are summoning stones you get from the end chest as a reward. So basicly 50+ means they are looking for experienced players who finished uw 50 times.

UW speedclear is reasonable hard and every teammember has a possibility to fail. Due to the fact most people do it to get as many ecto's as soon as possible they aren't risking the access fee to take in a new player.

Still the mayority of people in ToA are bringing this in a kinda rude way.

If you never done UW my best advise would be to join a guild that does it on a regular basis. Guild's are more likely to put time in helping you get through UW and/or help you master the speedclear way of doing it.

look for guilds advertising themself with uwsc and whisper the recruiter to explain what you wanna do and learn.

I never UWSC, but i believe 50+/100+ is the amount of Ghastly stones you must have to participate. Since you get 2 Stones per run, you show you completed 25 runs ( so with 100 stones you completed 50 runs). You could buy them however, but it will cost you ~4k per stone. When the leaders trades you, that is the moment when you show the amount of stones you have, so the leader knows you're 'experienced'.

As for where to start, search for learning videos on youtube, and join a Practise group, wich are often around.

I can answer a few things:
50+/100+ is the number of stone someone has (see Ghostly Stone on wiki). You get those by completing UW (it drops from the end chest). This serves to show the experience someone has with UWSC. The more you have the more (theoretically) experienced you are.
Best way to learn is to find a group/guild that doesn't mind teaching you the ropes and roles you play.

Also bear in mind that the players selling the stones are likely to be the ones asking you to show them to get into their group, so buy them on an alt account and transfer them to your main if you can so that you don't get added to their 'noob blacklist'.

If you are a beginner, I recommend avoiding speed clears to begin with. Grab a team of heroes, enter the underworld and just have a wander about. You'll learn more about the uw by visiting it than you will by watching youtube videos, especially regarding where the pop-ups are and what skills they carry. Just kill everything you see down there, and check the wiki page before accepting any quests.

Strongly recommend you get your guild to help you, or join one which does UW regularly.

Sadly the people demanding "stones" abound in TOA, and the funny thing is, I bust so many twits who show stones, yet do not even have a UW statue in their hall (in spite of putting other titles/things in), so how on earth a ghastly proves anything is beyond me. Personally I USE my stones, and refuse to join any group which demands to see the damn things on principle.

Par for the course too is the rudeness from people who presume to be better than you, sadly they forget GW is brain-dead simple, and it doesn't take a genius to do UWSC, yet they imagine they are "something"... Just ignore them all.

I'm a rit and I've already done my part many times to help my guildies to charm Black Widow, so I know the part Clear the Chamber -> Escort of Souls -> Wrathful Spirits well. But it was always full group of 2 or 3 men + heroes.

Ask the leader of the party to show his stones.
Let the hilarious back-pedaling begin.

I am in an experienced UWSC Guild and first thing I can say is buy yourself say 20-30 Ghastly summoning stones. This will make your life easier when getting teams to begin with. You are going to have alot of fails initially, just practice your area and try to learn all the tricks. I would suggest SoS as a starting point as it's dead simple and an area that has less chances of mess ups. Watch videos, watch them alot of times so you actually understand what is going on. Then watch videos of all the other areas so you have a more general idea of what goes on in UWSC. Basically study your role and then just join teams. Don't bother joining "practice teams" as these always fail because everybody in the team is learning and that's not a good environment for progression. You will learn best when the players in your team know what they are doing. If you are the only one messing up its a lot easier to pick up where you're going wrong. Lastly, try to join a daily UWSC guild as this will help you get experience. Getting into UWSC can be slow but it will pick up after a while. And no, sorry, I cant point you towards my own guild, we have requirements that, as a beginner, you wouldn't meet. GOOD LUCK!

I give up, there's no reason to have troubles with learning UWSCing, I'd rather continue DoA ambrace farming, which generates enough profit anyway.

Which is? (Just curious)

And thank you for saying "beginner" instead of "noob"

UWSCs have taken on a real elitist role in the game. You can get ectos on your own going in with heroes, or in the OP's case just farm ectos in the chamber as a rit spammer. Once you have 115, you have Obby Armor and starts becoming a matter of ego and buying prestige items.

I agree with the above, if you just want to make cash, simply farm UW solo.

My best run is 15 ectos, 1 ruby, 4 keys, 1 scroll, 4 golds and about 20k in salvage (clearing to chamber/plains only), and I usually get at least 6 ectos at least.

Pointless to take heroes, the droprate dips to almost nothing.

I should mention a little trick if you do farm solo. Take a bunch of heroes with you, and just flag them at the beginning and leave them there, since they are "off-map" your drops will not be affected by them, and you can call them to you if you perish.

If you only want the statue in the hall, well you can always do a full run old school with some pugs perhaps, I mean UW isn't exactly difficult

I find it most amusing that these geniuses who believe "stones" mean anything seem to treat you as third rate. It is obvious from what you say that are not some complete noob, and moreover you seem quite forthright about your experience and aspirations.

The trouble is, some of the pretentious clods who will grudgingly deign to allow you into their little group should you proffer the require little "stones" are convinced that their UWSC ability actually means anything. Let me tell you UW is about as easy as DOA, and I recall all the people who said that was "difficult", well since you do DOA a bit, I am sure you are aware that you can take any "noob" and have them running frostway flawlessly in a very short order. UW is no different.

Should you take a little time to learn roles and all the rest, you will find it is no more complicated than any other SC or dungeon, then you can gently rub the shine of all those holier-than-thou snobs during runs, and let them know just how exaggerated all their vetting and screening is.

Oh if you are just after junk in the chest. My advice: FARM UW solo.

I know a guy spent countless months trying to get an obi edge. Finally he got a pissy q13 to drop... after months and months.

I bought a q9 after 12 days farming.

Thank you
You helped me a lot.
You told me, that's reasonless to try to grovel to those snobs especially when I have an alliance full of people who can help me to get the statue in NM.

About the farming suggestion, I know! I've learned that without any pain. Just compared 1 DoA run to making my sin able to do SoOSC + runs when I saw BDS for the 1st time.

And thank you for not underestimating me!

I don't even play guildwars anymore but a couple years ago I had the same problem as you're having now. The best thing to do is to ask guild mates or friends who do UW to help you out and take you on a test run. Or just give you some tips on it like builds or class options.
